Kitty Lady To Visit...

Well, I have taken the next step in the Kitty Acquisition Task. On Thursday, I shall be visited by someone from the cat charity I had contacted, to see if I am a suitable person to adopt one of their cats.

Apparently, my address, on Google Maps, looks as if it is too close to the main road to allow me to have an "outdoor" cat... I pointed out that there is a large communal garden around the back, and the cat flap leads onto this garden, and that there is a large grassy verge (with bushes and trees and stuff) in the front courtyard, but it's not looking good.

I still hope to be able to give a rescue cat or two a good home...

In the meantime, I better get some housework done...

Many, many cats live in homes on or near a main road. What are they looking for - a detached house in the depths of the country?
If they turn you down you could always try Cats Protection covering Eltham and Sidcup.

Thanks, Genty.

To be fair, I can understand their point of view. A large number of the cats they get are ones that have been hit by cars, and they wouldn't want the cat nursed back to health only to get run over again...

If I'd said that I wanted an indoors-only cat, I suppose it would have made things easier, but...

Hopefully, it is just a general rule and the particular setting you have described may prove safe enough when they come over to view it.

I think it is best for kitties to be allowed out. An enclosed cat yard may work well, especially when there is more than one cat and they therefore have less need for entertainment, but not everybody has the opportunity to build a cat yard. It's also nice for kitties to be able to roam free when possible.

I let mine out slowly, by small degrees, and now they go out alone but never far from the house. I hope you get a new meowmans soon, life is less without them. I don't know about Catholicism being a Jew-turned-Orthodox but a cat both female and male is the only creature, apart from a man, allowed in the sanctuary of an Orthodox church.
