Are You A Roman Protestant?

This post, courtesy of the Catholic Caveman, had me in pieces... but many a true word is spoken in jest. Cafeteria Catholics: face the facts... you are Roman Protestants if you think you can pick and choose the aspects of the Faith which don't upset you too much...

Hmm. I scored 9/10 ie I was not an RP for 9 out of the 10 questions. As an Anglican, I wonder what that makes me? ;>)

Hello MF,

I thought this was absolutely hilarious...I used to go to my local church until I said enough is enough, so I sympathise with the Roman Protestant thing, totally closed in on itself. I now attend the services at the Brompton Oratory and I feel that I really have come home, it just felt right to adore the Good Lord in this way. My local Church only serves me when I am unwell and have to maybe crawl to Church to do my Sunday duty. (I try not to be well on Sunday, if I can help it!). The very last time I went to my local 'round church' they had 'liberace' playing the piano non-stop so that there was absolutely no space for any form of private prayer and at the end of Mass, the chap gets a round of applause? Now that's a Roman Protestant. Sad but true.

I think your Blog is excellent. It has the right balance, focused, sharp and cheeful.

Cavey, I like the Neanderthal approach: spell it out in words of one syllable and club me over the head to make sure I get the point!

Yours is one of my "platinum" blogs... keep up the great work.

Once you decide you'll be able to walk accross. You won't miss a thing when you're on the other side. I dare say you'll spend a few months with the palm slapping the forehead "what was I thinking?"
