A Time For Prayers...

Just when things seemed to be settling down, it all flares up again. There is some really horrible stuff happening right now. Not to me personally, I hasten to add... but all the baptised are parts of the Body of Christ, and so we are all affected by the wounds.

I'm with Bara Brith on this one.

St. John Vianney, pray for us.
St. Pio of Pietrelcino, pray for us.

It's significant that Satan and his horrid crew are redoubling their efforts to ruin souls at a time when we have a pope who is, demonstrably, their implacable foe.

The undermining of papal authority has been relentless, first with honeyed words, then gathering pace in the reign of Blessed John Paul, with howls and shrieks.

The pity of it is how many of those appointed guardians of the Faith have been caught in Satan's snares.

Yes, these are sterner days, as Winston Churchill said. I therefore began a 54-day novena of Rosaries for priests and bishops on Sunday. Join me!

Thank you for this post. I have had much the same thoughts and feelings myself over the last few days.

I too am with you and Bara Brith (and anyone else who is praying with us at this time).

Our Lady, Help of Christians, pray for us.
Our Lady, Comfort of the afflicted, pray for us.
Our Lady, Mirror of justice, pray for us.
Mother of the Church, pray for us.

And at a time when we seem to be good at shooting ourselves in the foot, can we also spare a prayer for those living in parts of the world where you can pay with your life for simply going to church. The Coptic Catholic Patriarch of Alexandria has asked for prayers for the Middle East (see Aid to the Church in Need).
