What is so shocking is that the EU is planning to make it law...
I understand the need to reduce the use of animals in medical research. I even applaud the idea that alternatives must be explored before using animals (it's actually already part of UK Law - in the Animals (Scientific Procedures) Act 1986.) But I object to the idea that human embryonic tissue can be included as an acceptable alternative to animal experimentation.

Are humans not even animals now? Somebody is in desperate need of a biology lesson ...

Ever thought of going into politics? You should you know. Not joking.
In the meantime please consider signing and promoting the new petition being mounted by Human Life International in support of Pope Benedict's stance on condoms:

Jane... no, I can't think of anything worse... all those politicians!
As for the HLI petition, you just missed my post on it (I was editing it while you were typing your comment!)
Can we, um, use animal embryos? Or is animal life just too sacred for that?
Sir Francis - reasonable comment one would think, would one not?
However, there is no comparable IVF Industry in the animal world and with hundred's of thousands maybe millions of 'surplus to requirement' human embryos the IVF peddlars are just looking for another market where they can make a buck or two selling off their 'products' - human embryos! No need to manufacture animal embryos, conflict of interest and yes of course they are more 'holier' than humans, animals have their rights after all!
Enter the EU anti-life lunatics who no doubt will add a comfortable margin of profit for themselves by issuing the usual red tape and contractuals in the form of some sort of compulsory form filling and license provision to facilitate this macabre trade.
The world is truely going down the pan - FASTLY!!!!!
