"Truly, it is the indescribable sweetness of contemplation which you give to those who love you. In this you have shown the tenderness of your charity, that when I had no being you made me; and when I strayed away from you, you brought me back again to serve you and commanded me to love you." The Imitation of Christ
I was there! That's me and my good lady wife waving back at Papa Benedict (squint hard) we're about the fiftieth back from the first fountain and slightly to the left! You've got it - I'm the one in the green jacket - Ha! Ha!.
No seriously, we were there on Sunday and it was electric!!! We love Rome anyway and go as often as time and commitments allow. The love and deep affection with which our beloved Pope is held by his faithful was just..... so hard to describe in words - you just FELT it! Who says Our Holy Father has no support??? There must have been as close to the 200,000 if not more, as reported. It took us almost half an hour just to clear St Peter's Square after the Pope's address, but then no one was in any hurry, just meandering off for a hearty lunch Roman-style or a tasty Capuccino in a cafeteria.....
Awesome occassion, wouldn't have missed it for the world! It's GRRRREEEEEAAAAAAT to be Catholic! How sad for everyone else - we have to work harder in our apostolate. Papa Benedict we love you!
Hiya, Mac. A quick question: on your blog-roll, the date on which each blog was recently up-dated pops up when I move my cursor over the titles, which is great. It doesn't do that on my blog-roll. Any idea of how I could enable that? Looking forward to reading your p.123 (unless it's a scheme of work or the National Curriculum or similar...).
George... I'm jealous. And where's my postcard?? Whaddaya mean you went to Rome and FORGOT to get me a postcard??
La Mamma - sorry, I don't know how the updated thing happens. I have my blogroll done by Blogrolling (there's a link under my third section of blogroll) and it's sort of automatic. I tried to turn it off a while back because it isn't always accurate: though it seems to be working at the moment.
Not to worry, Mac. I'll just scruffle around and see if I can work it out (just made up 'scruffle'. Think I quite like it. Defining it as follows: Scruffle, v: to try to find out how to do something on one's computer, usually in vain. Usage: "I scruffled around my dashboard for ages but still failed to achieve by design what Mulier Fortis accomplished by accident.")
Must be the scientist in you!
Child #1 is off sick. Has been all week. Can you tell?!

That is an absolutely wonderful photo.
