How Very Odd...

I'm covering an IT lesson this afternoon. Glancing through a few of my favourite blogs, I noticed that the Dashboard was no longer blocked. Very interesting...

I wonder if it is only the Science Department's computers which have been blocked from using Blogger...

Just out of interest, do you have a comments policy on your blog? I'm curious because I posted a comment on an abortion thread a while back but you didn't allow it up.

Yes, Red Maria, I do. It's called "Comment Moderation" - if I think the comment is reasonable (even if I don't agree with it) and relevant, then I probably publish it.

If it is irrelevant, inflammatory, or unnecessarily rude about me, people or issues that I care about, or sometimes even if the comment alters the tone of a thread in a way I don't like, then I won't publish it.

Occasionally I delete things by mistake. Very occasionally.

But this blog is not an open forum. It is my blog, and contains my musings, views and opinions. If people want to air their opinions, then they are very welcome to do so... on their own blogs.

Our entire network is subject to an anti-blog filter - it's infuriating! OK, I don't mind the IT techies stopping the kids from wasting their time (after all, what else are they at school for save to drink in the pearls of wisdom from our lips?), but I do think that staff should be allowed to waste, er, refresh ourselves from the limpid streams of Blogdom.

As it is, I'm restricted to sites which don't have the word 'blog' in it. Luckily, that does include CWN and the wondrous Diogenes.

But not your blog, which I've just discovered. Great stuff! (Though shame you're a science teacher...but I suppose we can't all teach English.)

Heheheh... Sue, I do my bit. The kids complain that I ought to teach English as I'm always correcting their spelling and grammar, and have a real thing about "answering in full sentences" !

Thanks for the kind words.
