"Truly, it is the indescribable sweetness of contemplation which you give to those who love you. In this you have shown the tenderness of your charity, that when I had no being you made me; and when I strayed away from you, you brought me back again to serve you and commanded me to love you." More Pictures From Lourdes...
Just a few more photos...
Here we have some shots of the outside of the Rosary Basilica, and the altars to the left of the entrance...
Beautiful photos Mac. This is Architecture and Art lifting the soul, the eyes, mind and heart to God!
The fabulous Basilica, the statuary, mosaics etc... are just a Feast in themselves. The Artisans wanted nothing other than their best human efforts endowed with the talents and skills given them by God to build and create something beautiful and fitting to the glory of God.
Now compare these photos to those of the 'new' church in Foligno (concrete brick) and the sculpture (hideous monstrosity) of Blessed Sr Restituta Kafka in Austria which featured in recent posts on Fr Tim and Fr Ray's blogs.
Where and why has it all gone so horribly wrong?
And don't anybody come back at me with that old pup "Beauty is in the eye of the beholder". You can only take subjectivity just sooo far!
