We were very blessed at Blackfen for the sixth anniversary of Summorum Pontificum. First we had a Missa Cantata organised by the Sodality of the Five Holy Wounds.
This was (as is the custom at Blackfen after a Saturday Missa Cantata) followed by a short service of Benediction. But the icing on the cake was that, for the Feast of the Exaltation of the Holy Cross, we were privileged to have the opportunity to venerate Blackfen's Relic of the True Cross...

Wow! Your church actually has a relic of the True Cross! That is amazing.
ReplyDeleteWow, I did not know you guys had a relic. May I know the provenance? Or who sealed it? Did it belong to a bishop, since it's sealed in a pectoral cross?
ReplyDeleteNo idea - it was already in the church, I think, when Fr. Finigan became PP, but I'm not sure...
ReplyDeleteWe have a rather large relic in the parish, but with no authentication papers and provenance, so our PP is not allowing public veneration.
