Another Swimmer Prepares...

Fr. Giles Pinnock needs our prayers. He has become convinced that he needs to come home to Rome, and, as such, has resigned from his Anglican parish of St. Mary the Virgin, Kenton.

Giving up one's job, one's home and one's whole way of life is a daunting prospect for anyone, and probably even more so if it affects one's family. Pray for him as he prepares to swim the Tiber.

Twitch of the mantilla to Jeffrey Steel.

  1. Father Pinnock is a brave man and he's done the ultimately right thing.

Praying that all will go well for him and his family.

I did this 21 years ago, but without sacrifice, and can say only, "Come on in - the water's lovely."

  2. He won't be the first from there . . . Fr Christopher Back, now at OLEM in Cambridge, was once a curate there.

That apart, Fr Giles will certainly have my prayers : and, I make no doubt, those of all his fellow-swimmers. I can only echo left-footer : 'the water's lovely'.

  4. Dear Mulier Fortis,

I realize this isn't the right place for my enquiry, but I was hoping you'd help me.

I'm finally visiting London (from Norway) the first weekend of October and my greatest wish is to attend a reverently celebrated TLM this Sunday. Could you please point me to where I can find information about where I can find one? I get around the city easily, so location is no issue - I'd rather travel an hour longer for a reverently celebrated Mass.

    I'd really appreciate your help!

  5. Pia -

The Latin Mass Society produce a regular listing of Masses which tells everyone where the TLMs are being held and when.

Basically, North and Central London are covered by Westminster Diocese, South London is in the Diocese of Southwark.

If you're visiting London, then your best options on Sundays are 9am at the London Oratory (Brompton), or 9:30am at St. James' Spanish Place (near Bond Street, so very central.)

10:30am is at Our Lady of the Rosary, Blackfen - which is quite easy to get to from Central London, we're actually on the outskirts, or 10:45am at St. Bede's, Clapham Park, SW12, or 11am at St. Mary Magdalen, East Hill, Wandsworth.

I hope all this helps, and that you have a wonderful stay in October.
