"Truly, it is the indescribable sweetness of contemplation which you give to those who love you. In this you have shown the tenderness of your charity, that when I had no being you made me; and when I strayed away from you, you brought me back again to serve you and commanded me to love you." It's All Greek To Me...
I sometimes regret that I never had the opportunity to study Latin at school. I don't feel my lack of Greek to quite the same extent. I did, however, really enjoy watching this clip from the classic series, Yes Minister, where Bernard gets to hog the limelight for a change...
Mac, were you at Corpus Christi this evening? I'm only connecting the dots now. I've been feeling pretty rough lately and seem to be in my own world half the time. It was a superb Mass (I'm hoping you were there otherwise this comment is pretty random!).
Yes indeedy... I was the woman in a mantilla (not so easy to spot at Maiden Lane as in many other parishes...) clutching the camera. Photos to follow soon.
Brilliant! What a series that was. Laughter is a great tonic for frustration at the modern world.
ReplyDeleteThank you.
Absolutely the finest comedy series of modern (?!) times . . . and yes, that was a truly great moment.
ReplyDeleteWhat always worried me, though, was that Mrs Thatcher said that it was amazingly true to life !
