Tired...

Right now I'm really tired... bone-achingly tired. Work seems to be expanding to fill all available time, and I haven't had the energy or the inclination to put up much more than the occasional post, most of which are apologies for not blogging... even worse, I haven't been reading blogs...

I have even (*gasps in horror*) been considering whether to knock the blogging on the head... the jury is still out on that one.

In the meantime, I'm off for an early night...

  2. I can sympathise, Mac. Not that I've been blogging in - what? - a year(?), but I changed jobs recently, and am quite busy. I too am not always getting to reading everything, often instead clicking "Mark All as Read"!

Take some time out and let the decision come to you in due time. In the meantime, have a good weekend, and rest assured of my prayers. God bless.

  3. Gasps of horror indeed. What can you be thinking? Give up blogging? It must be the tiredness talking.

Heaps of work + overtiredness = fallow patch. It'll pass. (Work probably not, but the other two definitely will.) I blame the dark evenings drawing in ever earlier.

  4. Take a tip from me;
    pictures an Youtube.

    Half way to half term?

  5. "I blame the dark evenings drawing in ever earlier" - Londoniensis makes a valid point. SAD syndrome is more real than any of us would care to believe.

Lack of Sunrays and drab dull evenings starting to draw in certainly does not do a lot to lift the spirit!

Suggest a couple of minutes by a UV sun lamp every couple for days, plenty of vitamin supplementation especially Vit C (MEGA DOSE!), a glass of wine, occassionally of course :-) and whatever else gives you a lift (chocolate comes to my mind as it certainly gives me a boost!)

BUT whatever it takes - DO NOT STOP BLOGGING! We need you on the blogosphere!

    God Bless you Mac.

  6. I hope that isn't serious- i.e. stopping blogging. I know I would miss your blog. But I understand the tiredness (I was a teacher) so perhaps try blogging a little more slowly!

  7. Careful what you wish for! I wished for a slower life recently and got a ruptured achilles!

As a fellow teacher you know as well as I the job can be all consuming, if you let it. A wise depute head once advised me you have to periodically stop and ask if you are looking after yourself properly, because if your not, you won't be looking after your family or pupil's properly.

I know you'll know this. But you might be like me who needed to be reminded of this occasion..

May God grant you many years.

  8. George..the lamps didn't work for me! I took a break once Mac..& deleted everything. I don't regret it because I then started again refreshed..see how you go..teaching SHUDDER!!

  9. Take a break by all means but please make sure you come back.

  10. Take a break but don't stop blogging. I treasure my visits to your side of the pond.

  11. It can be tempting to throw it all in. I always find that when those thoughts arise soon enough you receive an email or message of support and gratitude for something on your blog which helps you to persevere.

Hopefully these messages are those very signs of support :) - we'd rather go on a Mulier Fortis diet than have our Mulier Fortis feeding tube removed!

  12. And what does Sylvester think about this crazy idea ? Has he been consulted ? I suspect not !!! The last thing Sylvester wants is you traipsing around the flat feeling very blue and bored and not knowing what to do, as a result of giving up blogging !!! He would adopt one of those very surly facial expressions that you have previously published on your wonderful blog. A glass of good wine, a lot more free time and plenty of sleep, I respectfully suggest, is the answer. God Bless.

  13. Actually Zephyrinus, Sylvester would like nothing better than for me to give up blogging, because then I could give him my undivided attention when he wants it... as it is, he often sits behind me while I type away, glaring at me until I stop and pay him some attention...

In addition to the tiredness which comes with teaching, I suspected that cat was behind the temptation to stop blogging! Labradors are far more encouraging and less selfish! :-)

  15. Take a break if you must but please don't delete your blog and screw up eveyrone's links!!!

Anyway, if you can't make an entry every day or two, no worries.

FWIW, I live a lot further south than you do,and I'm also at least mildly affedted by SADS.

It's been noticeably darker these last couple of weeks (ut's been getting darker earlier, duh)

But this morning Sunrise was at 6:44 and Sunset at 6:29, which means already we're getting less than 12 hours of day of the sun out, and it's only going to get worse. We still have a month of daylight savings time left (It will only change 1s Sunday of Nov - thank yo Congress for that extra month of Daylight savings time we get) but I would love it if it was year round.

I was tired as all get out too,and Mass was only 20 minutes long for me this evening - it was just Fr. S. and myself.

  16. EF we have a labrador too!

  17. Thanks for the concern, everyone: but honestly, I'm not suffering from SAD.

Karen - I wouldn't delete the blog: I've had too many links go bad on me to do that to anyone else!

  18. I'd be very sorry to see your blog go – it's sane, informative and humorous. Maybe you feel that it's a relentless pressure, though. So why not take a break and then put up posts much less frequently, perhaps just in the holidays?

  19. The very thought of giving up the blog must be dismissed immediately - that thought can only be from the Evil One!

  20. Long time no see.....is there a way to 'follow' you on blogger?

    ReplyDelete
  21. Best way I know is Google Reader... but not a lot is going on right now!

  22. Please do not stop blogging. Your blog is one of the few oases in a sea of nonsense. Ad multos annos.

  23. Please get some rest and recreation. I would miss you terribly if you stopped blogging.--Rosemary in Missouri

  24. Dudette - a change can be as good as a rest - and might make recuperation a little less risky - sometimes a little bit of most things might allay any awkward guilt about not being superwoman at every moment of every day [although you are to us!]
We need you around - how is up to you!

Speaking as someone who is thinking about doing the same, whilst few would notice mine falling off the radar, the Catholic world is not yet ready to be without its strong woman!

Prayers and best wishes for you Mac.
