"Truly, it is the indescribable sweetness of contemplation which you give to those who love you. In this you have shown the tenderness of your charity, that when I had no being you made me; and when I strayed away from you, you brought me back again to serve you and commanded me to love you." That Time Of Year Again...
The first golden leaves have started to fall, and there's a distinct chill in the air. It's half way through October, so it's obvious, isn't it...? Yes, it is time for the local council to put up the Christmas lights...
Yes that's true. Actually we have some nearby already. They were put up together with greetings for our Muslim friends recent celebrations. Now they can remain unlit until the rest of the Xmas ones join them.
The christmas foods and sweets have been out since the beginning of SEPTEMBER in our supermarkets... It just makes me even more keen to celebrate Advent!
The weather has been so nice recently it really does not feel like October at all.
ReplyDeleteMakes you want to scream. It was 47F this morning when I woke up at 6. I actually put my flannels on last night before I dove under the covers.

ReplyDeleteHere in Berlin Christmas biscuits and chocolates are already being displayed in shops since the beginning of October. Sheer madness.

ReplyDeleteI love this time of year. I, too, wish the stores would just let us enjoy fall before they rushed us into Christmas.
ReplyDeleteI don't do Hallowe'en, but at least they used to get that out of the way before they started with the Christmas stuff!
