Anyone Interested...?
Ma Beck has alerted us to the fact that Lumen Gentleman is collecting a database of people who are interested in attending/saying Mass in the extraordinary form. I suspect that it is designed to confound one or two sceptical souls who insist that there is no call for it in their neck of the woods. There are several different countries represented, so pop on over and leave your name. The more the merrier... (There does seem to be a slight hiccough with the "State" for addresses in the UK, but hopefully they'll get ironed out soon.)
To be quite honest do we have to keep petitioning..i mean isn't the document & recommendations sufficient?

It isn't petitioning, Jackie... it's just registering interest. Some people are trying to suggest that there is little enthusiasm for the extraordinary form of Mass, and are using it as an excuse to ignore the Holy Father's instructions...
ReplyDeleteI would like to add my details but I just don't understand the abbreviations for UK "states"! What should I enter if I live (which I do) in Glasgow?

ReplyDeleteI personally am sure that there is a huge and as yet untapped groundswell of people in the UK who would dearly love to experience the Extraordinary form of the Mass. So many priests are like my own and adopt the "bunny in the headlights" stare whenever you mention "latin". The popular religious press isn't helping either, this week the Catholic Times implies the relaxation of rules on the use of the Extraordinary form is to pave the way for re-unification with schismatics. The front page headline is very negative and that is what most people will see where it is on sale at the back of churches.
ReplyDeleteSo many people I know believe the latin mass they grew up with was banned, they have unswerving loyalty to anything their priest tells them, even though their hearts are elsewhere. It is younger parishonners like myself with access to the internet who are "muddying the waters" and praying for a path of peace and reconcilliation through all this.
The abbreviations are actually correct; they are postal counties.
