I have been looking for a reasonably priced old Breviary for a long time with not much luck.

My Latin is ok, but I feel it's not oiled enough to sustain my spiritual life. So I'm glad there is something in Latin-English to assist!

I'm hopefully entering seminary this year, D.V., so not sure whether I would find much use for the major hours, but I will certainly look forward to praying the little hours and compline using this diurnal!Colonel Mustardhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/11602937152926231185noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-28018475.post-89207307314828475592009-02-09T19:00:00.000+00:002009-02-09T19:00:00.000+00:00I sympathise on the rubrics front! I used the 1962 Diurnale for many years and got used to it. It was then stolen (well, it was in a suitcase that was stolen from a hire car!) and I never did replace it. I chose to get the Benedictine one you mention, but I have also been totally baffled by the rubrics and the fiddliness of it. Yes, call in the cavalry, that's what I'd do. I must take it back to Farnborough one day and ask the abbot how to read it!Cheshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14482248798568539188noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-28018475.post-74374484684144134502009-02-08T22:32:00.000+00:002009-02-08T22:32:00.000+00:00I stopped using the American LOTh last year, mostl...I stopped using the American LOTh last year, mostly from the translations and the dated hymn selection.*
Now I use a (presumably rare)Latin-English book for the office with the post-conciliar office. It's okay, but a bit dated. The translation is better too.

*And the period where the reading is from S.Augustine's "On Pastors" every day for three weeks straight.J.Samuel Ross.https://www.blogger.com/profile/11981863011563791787noreply@blogger.com
